THE MUIRBORPO

if you’ve never heard of it,
let me tell you about the muirborpo

it is a common parasitic fly
that lays a single egg
on the eye of its human host

that is the inner eye,
the third one,
and so the larva develops
by greedily eating your special sense of sight
until it feels ready for metamorphosis

unfortunately you’ve gone blind to others,
blind to your inner self,
blind to the future,
blind to the greater picture

you can still hear words,
higher speak,
the Song,
the greater harmonies,
you can still hear that
thanks to your “third ear”

but soon a young muirborpo comes out of its old larval skin,
and it is hungry,
oh! so hungry

you were already blind;
now you’re about to go deaf.
