THE FIRST FLOWERS OF SPRING

I am unable to understand how a man of honor could take a newspaper in his hands without a shudder of disgust.

  1. Men of honor are few
    they read the times
    and the seasons
    not the lies
    nor the reasons.

  2. Great comment. I should repost it with the blog, only then it would be left again without a comment.

  4. Men as well as women of honor
for many cultures possess certain cardinal virtues: For what I have been taught they are pretty basic and are drilled into us as children and are as follows..

    Wacantognaka,Woohitika,Wowacintanka, Woksape

    Generosity, Bravery, Fortitude, and Wisdom

That last virtue being the hardest to obtain and grows out of excelling in the other three.

Bravery takes first rank. The system of war honors had been carefully calibrated with recognized degrees of bravery. Individual valor meant more than group victory. The warrior who most fearlessly risked his life earned the admiration of all the People and got the most cherished honors.

  5. I was about to answer Macky's question with these words:

A man of honor "knows what he knows" while the man with no honor "ignores what he knows."

//Generosity, Bravery, Fortitude, and Wisdom// combined surely make for a man of honor -- unless they went killing people in Iraq in the name of lies, but that's another conversation.
